Makios Cloud Email Protection Instructions
1. Account Creation
You have received or will receive an email to finalize the setup of your account with a temporary password to log in. Once this is received, click on “Back to login”, login and click on “settings” on the menu (see arrow).
You can then update the mobile number and change the password to one of your own liking:
2. Spam Report Mail
An example of a Spam Report Mail is displayed below:
A spam report will be received in a user’s mailbox daily when Makios Cloud Email Protection has detected an email that is categorized as spam, bulk email, virus and/or false positive. False positive means that an email was classified as spam but it is a legitimate email.
Categories which will allow emails through the filter are described as clean/innocent. At times, people may experience “False Negative” classified emails to pass through the spam filter. False negative means that an email that are actually spam may have gotten misclassified as clean.
This does not happen often but it is important to remember not to open any attachments from senders whom you may not know.
The reason for a spam filter is to stop and quarantine unsafe emails for the safety of the user and network.
As displayed by the example, the filter displays the sender as “address” and the subject of the email. There are two options directly available within the spam report. These options are “Release” and “Release & Approve”.
These two may seem similar but one is far more powerful.
Release – Allows the email through the spam filter and delivers it to the user’s mailbox shortly after being released.
Release & Approve – Allows the email through the spam filter, adds the sender “address” to the allow list of the user and delivers the email to the user’s mailbox shortly after being Released & Approved.
Adding to the “Allow list” means that the sender can bypass the spam filter in future emails even if they are picked up as possible spam.
Release & Approve is only recommended for senders whom you know are being quarantined falsely.
3. On Demand Portal
There is an option on the upper right corner and bottom left corner of the Spam Report which allows users to log into their account.
Upper right corner:
Bottom left corner:
Or directly via the URL: https://makios.cloud-protect.net/app/login.php
Logging into the portal for the Spam Filter will provide more options than displayed on the Spam Report Mail. Once you click on “Sign in to your account” the default Internet Browser will open and the log in window will be displayed:
If you have not previously logged in, you can click on “Forgot your password”.
Informational / Options:
Another item that can be see under settings are the Inbound and Outbound stats. This information is mainly informative but interesting to see as it provides a full overview of the email the user is receiving.
Going back to “Quarantine”, the emails that have been quarantined will be displayed.
When selecting the “received” option, the following options are available:
There are also more options for “Status”:
The following examples shows the actions available via the web console for the Spam Filter:
You can select the emails by checking the box to the left and selecting the appropriate action from the pull down menu above:
“Release from Quarantine” is the same as the “Release” option from the Spam Report Mail.
“Release & Approve” is the same as the “Release & Approve” option from the Spam Report Mail.
“Resend (Instant Replay)” allows any email to be resend to the user’s mailbox. This is in case an email was removed and is needed once again. Cleared emails are also displayed by selecting the “cleared” status.
“Not Spam” flags the email as not spam and will allow the filter categories to improve detection.
“This is Spam” flags the email as spam to allow the filters to improve and block emails alike for other users utilizing the same spam filters.
“Delete” will delete the email from the spam filter. Once emails are deleted, Instant Replay is not available for them.
