Celebrating Joyce’s 11-Year Anniversary at Makios Technology

Let’s keep this simple. Eleven years at one company is no longer normal. People job-hop, chase titles, or burn out. Joyce did none of that. She showed up, figured things out, and kept things moving. That is rare, and to us, that matters.

Joyce joined Makios Technology in January 2015 as my Executive Assistant. From day one, she clicked. No drama, no ramp-up excuses. She just got to work. When we asked her about it, she said working with the Makios team felt like she had finally landed where she was supposed to be. You can tell when that happens because a person sticks, grows, and becomes part of the backbone of a business.

In 2019, she stepped into the Office Manager role. Translation: more responsibility, more moving parts, more chances for things to break. Instead, things ran more smoothly. Operations, leadership support, client coordination, and the random “hey, can you fix this real quick” moments. She handles all of it without making noise about it.

The most underestimated skill is adaptability. Makios today is not Makios in 2015. Different size, different clients, different problems. Joyce adjusted to all of it. When asked what would surprise her younger self, she said her resilience and ability to pivot. That fits perfectly here, because plans are often more like suggestions. Something always comes up.

She also nailed something most teams get wrong: communication. Her take is blunt and accurate. Do not assume people are on the same page. Set expectations early. Say things clearly. It saves time and prevents headaches. Simple idea. Almost nobody does it consistently.

What keeps her here after 11 years is not perks or slogans. It is people. Real relationships and friendships are built over time. And yes, probably surviving my personality helped build some character along the way (wink).

Her words say it best: “

We have hard days. We disagree. But at the end of the day, we have each other’s backs.”

That is the kind of culture you cannot fake.

There is no single highlight moment for her. No big trophy. It is the daily wins. Helping a client. Helping a teammate. Getting something done that needed to be done. That is where the satisfaction comes from. Not flashy, just effective.

Also worth noting, there is no such thing as a quiet day for her. We come in with an amazing plan, and five minutes later, something is on fire, and we need to pivot. That is the job. Joyce does not complain about it. She just handles it.

So here we are. Eleven years at Makios Technology. Joyce has been a constant in a business that is anything but constant. She keeps things organized, keeps people aligned, and keeps momentum going.

Joyce, we appreciate the work, the consistency, and the fact that you get things done without making it complicated. That is way harder than it sounds or than you make it look.
