Why You Should Switch to Windows 11

Windows recently rolled out a major overhaul of its popular operating system with version 22H2. The software upgrade includes a much-needed design refresh, new window layout options, gaming updates, and improved performance. We’ll explore the benefits of upgrading to Windows 11 and show you how to check your PC meets the minimum requirements.

When did Windows 11 Rollout Update 22H2?

On September 20, 2022, Windows released the 22H2 update to eligible PCs. The move was a response to competitors Apple and Google to retain dominance of desktop operating system market share.

While 22H2 doesn’t feel much different than last year Windows 11 21H2, the update includes a new Taskbar, Start Menu, accessibility features, and touchscreen commands to accommodate new machines. In addition, Windows added new Microsoft apps like Clipchamp video editor and the Sound Recorder to help users produce content without purchasing production software.

What are the Benefits of Upgrading to Windows 11 22H2?

22H2 is the most significant Windows OS update in at least 6 years. The upgrade includes plenty of amazing upgrades and new features without completely changing the feel of the software. Below are the most impactful changes in Windows 11.

Increased Accessibility

The rollout prioritizes making the OS more user-friendly for the most people possible. 22H2 includes systemwide live captions displaying transcriptions of video, audio, or spoken words through the PC’s microphone. In addition, the AI-powered voice-to-text speech dictation feature allows users to control the OS hands-free. Windows also added new voices to the existing text-to-speech Narrator feature.

Improved Multitasking

While getting around the new Windows UI is familiar, some new customizations help improve daily use. Our favorite is the improvements to Snap Layouts. Users can now group windows and save them to the taskbar, a major upgrade from simply dragging your window to the top of the screen.

Multitaskers can increase productivity with the updated Clock app features, including Focus Sessions which integrates with Spotify providing accommodating background music for tasks and a built-in To-Do checklist.

Access and Control of Apps

One of the most significant changes to the OS involves gaining access to more apps and how they are managed. Smart App Control improves protection from cyber threats by blocking malicious and untrusted apps.

The new update includes the Amazon App store, where users can access over 20,000 Android apps. Apple services and applications are also included in the new integrations with iCloud Photos, Apple Music, and Apple TV connectivity.

Personalized Start Menu and Task Bar

A major Windows update wouldn’t be complete without some major controversy within the community. The most significant change is, without a doubt, the new Start Menu and Task Bar, which moves the familiar far-left start button location into the middle of the display, depending on how many apps are running.

While the location of the Start Menu has changed, the new Task Bar offers full customization allowing users to interact with their running and go-to apps exactly how they want. The Start Menu can even be pushed back to its fixed position in the far bottom left corner for those more resistant to change.

New Features in Teams

Windows has significantly improved Teams recently as remote work has become more common. The new update makes collaboration even more accessible and more secure with the following additions:

  • Teams Premium with advanced security protection
  • Intelligent recap
  • Record a video clip
  • Teams rooms
  • Personalized mesh avatars

How to Check if Your PC has the Minimum requirements for Windows 11
